How to Care for Your Yak Hat

 

Did you buy a Yak hat for the holidays – or are you giving one as a gift? We want to make sure your hat is looking its best every time you wear it, so we’ve put together a list of tips for keeping your hat in tip top shape.

First, to keep the high quality faux fur lining of your Yak hat in its best condition, try to avoid wearing it in heavy rain. While some moisture is fine, heavy rain can degrade the fibers in the faux fur.
Second, brush the faux fur frequently to clean it of debris and smooth the texture. Use a soft-bristled clothing brush so you don’t damage the lining of the faux fur. Brush with the grain of the faux fur to prevent fibers from falling out. Then smooth out the material to keep the natural pattern intact. We recommend brushing the faux fur of your hat once a week, or when it needs some extra luster.
Third, use specially designed faux fur cleaning solutions to remove stains and debris. Do not wash faux fur in soap and water.

And lastly, make sure to store your hat in a clean and dry place, to keep the faux fur from becoming frizzy or discolored.
